In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
 
The alerts from EU generated during 2nd - 8th February 2021 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide, in varying proportions, in sesame seeds, in organic sesame seeds, in hulled sesame seeds from India.
  • Notification from: Greece, France, Belgium, Netherlands
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - alert - company's own check
2. Alert: Sulphite (61.1 mg/kg - ppm) undeclared on frozen cooked peeled shrimps (Solenocera crassicornis) from India.
  • Notification from: Italy
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - information for attention - border control - consignment released
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
  • Date: 03-02-2021
3. Alert: Thiophanate-methyl (0.32 mg/kg - ppm) in drumsticks (Moringa oleifera) from India.
  • Notification from: Germany
  • Risk: Undecided
  • Notification type: Food - information for attention - border control - consignment released
  • Date: 03-02-2021
