In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.                                  
 
The alerts from EU generated during 6th - 12th October 2020 are as under:

1. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 27.5; Tot. = 29.1 µg/kg - ppb) in whole dried chillies from India.
  • Notification from: United Kingdom
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Destruction
  • Date: 12-10-2020

2. Alert: Missing import declaration for chilli peppers from India.
  • Notification from: Slovenia
  • Risk: Not Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Official detention
  • Date: 08-10-2020

3. Alert: Shigatoxin-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC /25g) and Salmonella (presence /25g) in dried fenugreek leaves from the United Arab Emirates, with raw material from India.
  • Notification from: Germany
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - alert - official control on the market
  • Action Taken: Withdrawal from the market
  • Date: 07-10-2020

4. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 11; Tot. = 13 µg/kg - ppb) in groundnuts from India, via Switzerland.
  • Notification from: Netherlands
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Official detention
  • Date: 06-10-2020
