In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.
The alerts from EU generated during 12th – 18th March, 2019 are as under:
- Alert: Indian Salt Lamp does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive requirements are recalled by UK distributor from Consumers.
- Salt lamp exported from India are not compliant with Low Voltage Directive requirements. Lamp live parts are exposed and accessible to users when changing the light bulb which can cause a risk of electric shock
- Issued in: 11th week of 2019
- Alert: Indian Jewellery containing excessive amount of cadmium rejected by Finland
- The metal of the hand-shaped pendant contains an excessive amount of cadmium (measured value: 50 % by weight). Cadmium is harmful to human health because it accumulates in the body, can damage organs and it may cause cancer. This product is rejected at border due to non-comply with the REACH Regulation.
