Republic Of Korea - Proposed amendments to Enforcement Rule of Food Sanitation Act

Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has proposed amendments to Enforcement Rule of Food Sanitation Act. According to the amendments to Food Sanitation Act (Act No.13332, Promulgated on May 18, 2015, and it is slated to come into force from 19 May 2017), the main purposes of amendments to enforcement rule of Food Sanitation Act are to set food categories which are subject to require putting the comparative sodium content on the label by Ordinance of Prime Minister.

Clause (a): The food categories for labeling the comparative sodium contentare set for noodles such as noodle(referred to "KookSoo"), cold noodles and fried noodles(only those with seasoning foods) and ready-to-eat foods such as Hamburgers and Sandwiches (Article 6-2 is newly established).

Proposed date of adoption: 19 May 2017 or later

Proposed date of entry into force: 19 May 2017 or later

 Final date for comments: 60 days from notification
