Israel- Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 38, dealing with Halwa, to be replaced with SI 7309

For Protection of human health or safety, Israel WTO-TBT Enquiry Point has issued notification on revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 38, dealing with Halwa, to be replaced with SI 7309. This draft standard revision adopts the Codex Standard 309R – 2011. The major differences between the old version and this new revised draft standard are as follow:

·           Expends the standard's scope to include also Halwa made from whole sesame tahena

·           Adds a minimal requirement for sesame oil

Updatesthe microbiological requirements
