Israel- Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 1279 part 10, dealing with hand propelled wheelchairs

For Protection of human health or safety, Israel WTO-TBT Enquiry Point has issued notification on revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 1279 part 10, dealing with hand propelled wheelchairs. This draft standard revision adopts the European Standard EN 12183 as follows: Until 28 February, 2017 this standard will allow compliance with both September 2009 edition and March 2014 edition, including Israel national deviation as appears in the standard's Hebrew section. From 1 March, 2017 this standard will allow compliance only with EN 12183: March 2014, including Israel national deviation as appears in the standard's Hebrew section. In addition the requirements for wheelchairs designed for users over 114 kg will enter into force 1 year after publication in Israel Official Gazette.

The major changes included in this new draft standard revision are those introduced in the adopted European standards and that are detailed in its informative Annex E.
