Israel –Revision of Mandatory Standards for Tahena (HS: 120740): For Protection of human health or safety, Ministry of Economy and Industry has issued notification for revision of the mandatory standard SI 642 to be replaced with SI 7259 dealing with Tahena. This draft standard revision adopts the Regional Codex Alimentarius Standard for Tehena – 259-R – 2007.The major differences between the old version and this new revised draft standard are as follow: · Expends the standard's scope to include also whole sesame tahena; · Updated the microbiological requirements; · Changes the test methods. In addition, the standard's Hebrew section includes the following changes: · Adds a new paragraph 2.2 dealing with classification and naming, also whole sesame tahena, seasoned tahena and seasoned whole sesame tahena; · Adds to paragraph 3 new requirements for the essential composition and the quality factors of whole sesame tahena, seasoned tahena and seasoned whole sesame tahena; · Changes paragraph 4 dealing with contaminants and apply local regulations and references; · Changes the microbiological requirements appears in paragraph 5 dealing with hygiene; Adds new methods of analysis and sampling to paragraph 9 for the content of: moisture, protein, fat, ashes and acidity.
