Indian Trade Portal to facilitate utilisation of Free Trade Agreements and integration of India into regional value chain: Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO)
Inaugurating the user friendly Indian Trade Portal (www.indiantradeportal.in) aimed at providing MFN and preferential tariffs, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade faced by Indian exporters at single point, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Commerce & Industry Minister said that she has identified exports as one of the most important sectors to boost our economy. The Indian Trade Portal will make available important data for use of exporters & importers at one place, in a user friendly manner and this will contribute to ease of doing business for trade & industry. Consequently the portal facilitates our exports and will also help our exporters to utilize the FTAs. She urged exporters to make best use of this portal, give continuous feedback for further improvement and additional details that they may need. Ms Sitharaman said that she will welcome such suggestions and will continue to work for the updation and improvement of the portal.
Commenting on the Indian Trade Portal, FIEO said that this meets the long requirement of the trade & industry and will help in better utilization of regional/bilateral trade agreements signed between India and our trading partners. FIEO said that the portal will facilitate our integration into the regional value chain. We can look for duty free import of semi-finished goods from such partner countries, converting them into value added finished products with skills and wage advantage at home, for exports to any partner country with duty free benefit on imports therein.
