In order to keep the Indian exporters informed of the rejections faced by Indian products in the EU and to take preventive actions FIEO is forwarding the Rapid Alert Systems for Food and Feed (RASFF) and for Non-Food Consumer Products (RAPEX) alerts on a weekly basis.

The alerts from EU generated during 13th - 19th April 2021 are as under:
 
1. Alert: Unsuitable organoleptic characteristics and poor temperature control - rupture of the cold chain - of frozen shrimps (Parapenaeopsis stylifera) from India.
  • Notification from: Spain
  • Risk: Not serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Return to consignor
  • Date: 16-04-2021
 
2. Alert: Unauthorised substance ethylene oxide (0.38 mg/kg - ppm) in ashwagandha from India, dispatched from the United States.
  • Notification from: France
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Destruction
  • Date: 14-04-2021

3. Alert: Aflatoxins (B1 = 9.3 µg/kg - ppb) in sterilized chilli powder from India.
  • Notification from: Spain
  • Risk: Serious
  • Notification type: Food - border rejection - border control - consignment detained
  • Action Taken: Official detention
  • Date: 14-04-2021
