  1. As per Notification 53/2015-2020 dated 21 March, 2018 (Click Here) issued by the DGFT import policy and condition of pepper is revised. Import policy/condition of Pepper over and above CIF Rs. 500 per kilogram is “Free” whereas import of pepper below the CIF of Rs.500 per kilogram is “Prohibited”.

  2. As per Public Notice 66/2015-2020 dated 21 March, 2018 (Click Here) issued by the DGFT MEIS benefit is notified for ’’Bengal- gram’’ under ITC (HS) code 07132000 for a period of 3 months for exports made from the date of this Public Notice. Further, the entry pertaining to HS Code 07132000 is placed at Annexure to Public Notice No.62 dated 16.02.2018 for processing of MEIS applications.

  3. The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) published Direction under Section 16 (5) of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 dated 15 March, 2018 (Click Here) regarding permission to use pre-printed packaging material.

  4. The Drug and Food Supervisory Agency of Indonesia published Regulation about Supervision for Food processing special nutrition requirements dated 15 March, 2018 (Click Here). This regulation relates to processed food for special nutritional purposes shall consider the nutritional needs according to the conditions physical and / or medical indications.

  5. The Head of Food and Drink Administration, Iran published a notice on 16 March, 2018 regarding Labeling of Transgenic Products (Click Here). The notice directs manufacturer and importer to comply with directive No. 19979/655/ d dated 29/9/93 (Persian year) concerning the guidelines for the implementation of the minimum standards for the labeling of food and beverage products. If the exact labeling according to this criterion is not observed on the transgenic products by importers and manufacturers, their health certificates will be suspended by the Food and Drug Administration and will be made available to law enforcement authorities.

  6. South Korea Food Drug Administration published following amendments:

  7. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published FSIS Directive 7120.1 Revision 46 dated 19 March, 2018 (Click Here). This directive lists safe and suitable ingredients, including food additives, used in the production of meat, poultry, and egg products.

  8. The Russian Government published Resolution no. 246 on 13 March, 2018 (Click Here) announcing the decision of Government ​No 1037 dated 15 August, 1997 No. 1037 "On measures to ensure availability of non-food products ​​in Russian language on the territory of the Russia” as invalid.

  9. Ministry of Industry and Trade, Russia published Order No. 462 on 14 February, 2018 (Click Here) approving the procedure for confirming the purpose of imported goods into Russia for manufacture of pharmaceutical products. The order establishes a list of documents and information, as well as the procedure for issuing an application for obtaining confirmation of the intended purpose of imported raw materials for the production of pharmaceutical products. The document confirming the purpose of the goods, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is valid for 1 year. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on March 15, 2018.

  10. Eurasian Council for Economic published decision No 38 on 15 March, 2018 (Click Here) classifying code of the goods of rigid, spring and drilling centralizers under HS 8431430000.   The decision comes into force after 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication.

  11. The European Union published Regulation (EU) 2018/460/461/462 dated 20 March, 2018 for authorising the placing on the market of Ecklonia cava phlorotannins (Click Here) as a novel food and extension of use of L-ergothioneine (Click Here) & taxifolin-rich extract (Click Here) as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 and amending Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470.

  12. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) amended following tolerances for residues dated 21 March, 2018:
