Mexico - Proposed amendment to Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2010 establishing the minimum requirements for the infrastructure and equipment in outpatient medical facilities Secretaría de Salud(Ministry of Health) has published amendment to Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2010 establishing the minimum requirements for the infrastructure and equipment in outpatient medical facilities, which will henceforth be known as Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2016 establishing the minimum requirements for the infrastructure and equipment in outpatient medical facilities There have been major advances in the technology and materials used to manufacture medical equipment, making it possible to produce and provide furniture, equipment and instruments that meet higher quality and safety standards for patients, users and staff in outpatient facilities. The infrastructure and equipment in these facilities must be in keeping with the type of services on offer, and the medical and technical staff tasked with operating them must have the necessary know-how, skills and abilities to make safe, efficient and appropriate use of them. It is important to note that this Standard is not a list or catalogue of furniture and equipment, and is not designed to restrict medical facilities. Instead, the Standard sets a minimum standard and serves as a basis or platform to gradually improve outpatient facilities by replacing similar or equivalent furniture, equipment and instruments with more technologically advanced and cutting-edge items, or by incorporating such items, across the broad range of medical fields and services. Proposed date of adoption: Once published as a final standard. Proposed date of entry into force: 60 calendar days after publication in the Official Journal. Final date for comments: 60 calendar days after publication in the Official Journal (20 January 2017). |
