Argentina - Ban on the use of certain substances in antibacterial products

Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnología Medica, ANMAT has issued notification statingBan on the use of the following substances in antibacterial products: cloflucarban; fluorosalan; hexylresorcinol; methylbenzethonium chloride; secondary amyl tricresols; sodium oxychlorosene; triclocarban; and triclosan.

Antibacterial products (without a therapeutic effect) used for personal hygiene purposes in the home and in public places are registered with ANMAT under the category "Personal hygiene products, cosmetics and perfumes".

Proposed date of adoption: 27 December 2016

Proposed date of entry into force: 27 December 2018

Final date for comments: 30 days from the date of circulation.
