Argentina incorporates the kombucha-based drink into the Argentine Food Code

National Food Commission (CONAL) incorporates the kombucha-based drink into the Argentine Food Code. This drink is defined as analcoholic fermented, carbonated and pasteurized, obtained through aerobic respiration and anaerobic fermentation of a must composed of an infusion of Camellia sinensis L. and sugars. In addition, it may be added with fruit juices or pulps, vegetable extracts, spices and / or honey.

The proposal establishes requirements applicable to the product manufacturing process that ensure the safety and quality of the product, as well as those inherent to the name and labeling.

Products covered : Kombucha-based drink; Other fermented beverages (for example: cider, perada, mead); mixtures of fermented beverages and mixtures of fermented beverages and non-alcoholic beverages, not elsewhere specified or included
