Spain - Draft Royal Decree establishing the quality standard for beer and malt beverages

The quality standard for beer and malt drinks produced and marketed in Spain is established, without prejudice to the provisions of the mutual recognition clause. The project updates the Royal Decree 53/1995 of 20 January, which approves the Technical-sanitary Regulation for the production, circulation and trade of beer and malt liquida and the Order of 15 October 1985, By which approve the official methods of analysis of beer. The main aspects covered relate to the definition of raw materials, products and methods of manufacture, the basic processing processes, as well as the analytical methods used in official controls. It also includes an article on the food information provided to the consumer of this type of products.

Proposed date of adoption:December 2016

Proposed date of entry into force:January 2017

Final date for comments:60 days after the date of notification
