Republic of Korea - 3 children's products for safety confirmation

Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) has issued draft revisions for safety confirmation forchildren's products (care articles for children, toy and school things) have been revised as follows:

·    Care articles for Children:

(a)  Addition of physical requirements for children's bed guards to verify structural safety

(b)  Physically low-risk products was deleted from the category of children's synthetic resins            products

·    Toys:

(a)  Addition of safety requirements and labeling requirements for ride able electromotive toys

(b)  Addition of safety requirements for harmful chemicals and corresponding change in testing       methods

(c)  Addition of microbiological safety toys

·    School things:

(a)  Clarification of types of musical instruments in school supplies

(b)  Reflection of revisions to the toxic testing standard on drugs, etc. (Public Notice No. 2015-        82).

Proposed date of adoption: December 2016 or later

Proposed date of entry into force: December 2016 or later

Final date for comments: 60 days from notification
