Japan – Revisions to the Japanese Agricultural Standards for Organic Plants Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan has issued notication on revisions to the Japanese Agricultural Standards for Organic Plants as follows; 1) To enable to use rice bran and wheat bran which comply with the criteria prescribed in "by- products of food & textile industries of plant, animal and fish origin" listed in Attached Table 1 in case of difficulty obtaining substances complying with the criteria prescribed in "Cultivation management in cultivation sites" established in "Japanese Agricultural Standard for Organic Plants" for fungi cultivated on mushroom bed. 2) To prohibit the use of artificial light for producing fungi. 3) To add oil cake as permitted substances for soil fertilising and conditioning. 4) To add hypochlorous acid water as permitted substances for plant pest and disease control. 5) To add extract from geranium and citronella as permitted substances for chemical agents. 6) To add beeswax as permitted substances for preparation.
