Afghanistan - Animal Health (Veterinary) Law Pursuant to Article 14 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, this Law provides the conditions to improve the prevention and protection of animal health; the prevention and control of animal diseases, including zoonotic diseases; the regulation of veterinary diagnostic laboratory services; the regulation of the import and export of animals, animal products, veterinary medicines and biological substances; to ensure the safety and quality of animal products destined for human or animal consumption and commercial purposes; to ensure animal welfare and to improve the economic conditions of farmers, in accordance with international obligations including relevant WTO agreements. The Law contains a total of four chapters, comprising 26 articles, dealing with: I. General Provision; II. Duties and Powers; III. Conformity of Sanitary Measures with International Standards; and IV. Final clauses.
