Mexico -Emergency Mexican Official Standard NOM-EM-167-SEMARNAT-2016 establishing pollutant emission levels for motor vehicles in Mexico Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources) has notified Emergency Standard is binding on the following: Owners or lawful possessors of motor vehicles powered by gasoline, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas or other alternative fuels, including vehicles providing public services at federal or local level or any form of private service regulated by federal or local road transport laws; Officials from control centres and, where appropriate, vehicle verification units that are accredited by the competent authorities of Mexico City, Hidalgo, Mexico State, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala or by the Ministry of Communications and Transport; and The competent authorities in Mexico City, Hidalgo, Mexico State, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala, and the Ministry of Communications and Transport, within their respective spheres of competence. It does not apply to vehicles of a gross vehicle weight of less than 400 kg, motorcycles, agricultural tractors, or machinery used in the construction and mining industries. Proposed date of adoption: 1 July 2016 Proposed date of entry into force: 1 July 2016. Will remain in effect for six months under Article 48, paragraph 1, of the Federal Law on Metrology and Standardization. |
