 Alerts

Mexico - Draft Official Mexican Standard PROY-NOM-005-ENER-2016, Energy efficiency of household electric washing machines. Limits, test method and labelling:

The notified draft Standard, which is binding, establishes the following: Washing machines subject to this draft Mexican Official Standard, which are marketed in the United Mexican States, must provide users with information on the maximum consumption of electricity, water consumption factor (FCA) and energy factor (FE - only for automatic washing machines) ratings of the products in question, so that they can be compared with other washing machines that have the same characteristics, and with the minimum ratings established by this draft Standard. Manufacturers, importers and marketers must establish energy factor ratings in L/kWh/cycle, water consumption factor ratings in L cycle/L and energy consumption ratings in kWh/year, as appropriate. These ratings must also be displayed on the labelling of the model, product or family of products to be certified. Automatic, semi-automatic and manual washing machines subject to this draft Mexican Official Standard, which are marketed in the United Mexican States, must bear an energy efficiency label. The labelling for automatic washing machines must provide users with the energy factor, consumption of electricity and water consumption factor. For semi-automatic and manual washing machines, the labelling must display the consumption of electricity and the water consumption factor, so that the product (in both cases) can be compared with other washing machines of the same type and with the same functions and capacity. The font Arial must be used.

Proposed date of adoption: The notified draft Mexican Official Standard will be adopted upon its publication in the Official Journal as a final Mexican Official Standard.

Proposed date of entry into force: The notified draft Mexican Official Standard will enter into force 180 calendar days after its publication in the Official Journal. As from this date all washing machines covered by PROY-NOM-005-ENER-2016 must be certified on the basis of this Standard.

Final date for comments: 60 calendar days after publication in the Official Journal.

If the Proposal/Notification/Regulation will affect your International Business please send us your representation with facts and figures, so that these can be taken up suitably.
