Israel- Revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 262, dealing with pasta

For Protection of human health or safety, Israel WTO-TBT Enquiry Point has issued notification on revision of the Mandatory Standard SI 262, dealing with pasta. This draft standard is based on the Italian Standard Presidential Decree No 187, dated 9 February 2001 for the requirements of pasta made of whole durum wheat, but as opposed to the Italian Standard, the Israeli Standards allows producing pasta not only from 100% durum wheat.

Both the old standard and the new revised standard will apply for a period of 12 months from publication in Israel Official Gazette. During this time pasta products could be tested according to the old or the new standard. The labelling requirements should enter into force 2 years after publication in Israel's Official Gazette.

Proposed date of adoption: To be determined

If the Proposal/Notification/Regulation will affect your International Business please send us your representation with facts and figures, so that these can be taken up suitably.
