Department of Consumer Affairs proposed Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2017 are for pre-Packaged Commodities. The said amendment is made for increasing the size of letters and numerals for making declaration, so that consumer can easily read the same and the net quantity checking is made more scientific etc.

Product covered: All pre‑packaged commodities meant for retail sale are covered under the said amendment except otherwise exempted from the Rules.
