South Korea proposing amendments to the regulation on safety standards of Cosmetics

Ministry of Food and Drug Safety proposing amendments seek to

-       establish detection limit and testing method for nickel (prohibited substance) unintentionally included;

-       expand the using range of etidronic acid, Cetrimonium chloride, Steartrimonium chloride, and Behentrimonium chloride;

-       add Chloroacetamide, Phenyl paraben, Phenyl salicylate which were deleted from the list of allowed cosmetic preservatives (G/TBT/N/KOR/693 etc.), to the negative list of cosmetic substances to make it clear that these substances are no longer allowed for use in cosmetics for safety reasons; and

-       add a new testing method to measure the reducing agent content in hair straightening and perm wave products.
