South Korea seeks to revise safety assurance criteria for Bicycle

Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) has issued notification proposing revision for safety assurance criteria for electronic bicycle notice has been revised as follows.

- Safety requirements (Maximum speed, Weight) for an electronic bicycle are revised.

- For consumer products subject to the safety assurance, manufacturers or importers are required to confirm safety by reporting to safety certification agency with attachment of test and inspection certificates from testing agency designated by models of the products before product release or clearance through the customs to identify whether they conform to the safety criteria

Proposed date of entry into force: March 2018 or later

Final date for comments: 60 days from notification
