Chile Establishes phytosanitary requirements for the import of dried branches of Sorghum vulgare from any source

Description of the content:

1. Phytosanitary requirements are laid down for the import of dried shoots of Sorghum vulgare from any source;

2. The consignment must be protected by an Official Phytosanitary Certificate of the country of origin, in which the following additional declarations include:

2.1 The consignment was inspected and found free from Rottbellia cochinchinensis, Acroptylon repens, Alhagi maurorum, Diplotaxis tenuifolia and Brassica tournefortii;

2.2 The consignment has been treated for the control of Striga angustifolia, Striga asiatica, Striga densiflora and Striga hermonthica. The treatment should be specified in the corresponding section of the Phytosanitary Certificate indicating product, dose, exposure time, temperature and date of treatment, as appropriate;

3. The following alternatives will be accepted as quarantine treatments for the control of Striga angustifolia, Striga asiatica, Striga densiflora and Striga hermonthica:

3.1 Heat treatment (See specifications in resolution);

3.2 Treatments with Methyl Bromide (See specifications in resolution);

4. The alternative official declaration of the country of origin shall be accepted as meaning that the pest (s) are not present in the country of origin;

5. Shipping must come free of soil and seeds;

6. Items that are composed in part by Sorgum vulgare and its other components correspond to regulated articles (eg, wooden broom handles, brushes), must comply with the provisions in the current legislation for their importation, according to each case particular;

7. The containers must be of first use, not being allowed to be reshipped, closed, resistant to the manipulation and labeled or labeled in accordance with current SAG regulation;

8. The wood of the packaging and pallet, as well as the wood used as accomodation material must comply with the quarantine regulations for entry to the country;

9. Upon arrival in the country, the consignment must be submitted to the inspection of the SAG professionals posted at the point of entry, who will verify the phytosanitary condition, and with the attached documentation, they will resolve their hospitalization.
