Philippines lifting of the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds and their products including poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and semen originating from Germany The Department of Agriculture (DA) issued Memorandum Order (MO) No. 39, Series of 2017 lifting the temporary ban on the importation of domestic and wild birds including poultry meat, day old chicks, eggs and semen originating from Germany. Based on the report submitted by Dr Karin Schwabenbauer, Ministerial Diriggentin and Chief Veterinary Officer, Directorate of Animal Health, Animal Welfare, Bundesministerium fur Ernahrung undt Landwrstschaft (BMEL) in Bonn, Germany, to the the World Organization for Animal Health, the latest Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) events in Germany (with previous temporary banning order; DA MO No. 15, Series of 2017) are now closed and resolved. Based on the evaluation of the Bureau of Animal Industry, the risk of contamination from importing poultry and poultry products from Germany is negligible.
