South Korea proposes amendment to technical regulation for Electromagnetic compatibility

In order to support the safety on electromagnetic waves and the sales promotion for electric bicycles, the electromagnetic compatibility criteria for electric bicycle is newly established.

1) It will replace the current applying criteria, the household appliance criteria, for electric bicycle.

2) In order to prepare for the expansion of the frequency allocation used on wireless facilities such as mobile communication, the frequency range of electromagnetic immunity test for the radio, residential or industrial environment equipment is expanded to 6 GHz by adopting international standards.

3) In order to protect broadcasting and wireless communication services from the electromagnetic disturbance below 30 MHz generated by arc welding equipment and to protect the arc welding equipment from the influence of gigahertz signals of the mobile communication, the electromagnetic compatibility criteria for arc welding equipment is amended to add the discontinuous disturbance and current ripple criterion and to expand the immunity test frequency up to 2.7 GHz by adopting international standards.

By adopting the amendment of international standards, the induction cooker is classified as the household appliance, and the induction cooker criterion specified in the criteria of the industrial, scientific and medical equipment is moved to the criteria of the household appliances and electric tools.
