Saudi Arabia Temporary ban on the importation of Equine from Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Livestock Risk Assessment Department, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Temporary ban on the importation of Equine" from Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Following the OIE report, ref. No. 29, Vol. 30 dated 18 July 2017, which indicates that Equine Infections Anaemia (EIA) outbreak has reoccurred in Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, it is deemed necessary for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prevent the entry of EIA disease into the country. Therefore, the import of equine from Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is temporarily suspended. Nature of the urgent problem(s) and reason for urgent action: An outbreak of EIA was reported by official announcement of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in Spain and The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. This urges the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to institute this emergency measure to prevent the entry of EIA into the country.
