Mexico proposes Conformity Assessment Procedure for Telecommunications and Broadcasting The current Conformity Assessment Procedure, issued by the former Federal Telecommunications Commission (COFETEL) in 2005, does not reflect the new technical regulatory framework created following the issuance of the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Law. Derived from the above, it is necessary to issue a new regulatory instrument for these effects, which also reflects the dizzying technological evolution without becoming a technical obstacle to trade. To this end, the Proposed Draft Conformity Assessment Procedure for Telecommunications and Broadcasting (Preliminary Draft Procedure) seeks to simplify the conformity assessment process and, therefore, the approval of products intended for telecommunications and broadcasting; As well as establishing a robust and efficient certification monitoring scheme. The Proposed Draft Procedure establishes the framework for: A) The Certification of Products of telecommunications or broadcasting and its compliance with Technical Provisions in the field of telecommunications and broadcasting. B) The Decommissioning of telecommunications infrastructure or broadcasting and its compliance with Technical Provisions for infrastructure for telecommunications or broadcasting. C) The Surveillance of the Certificate of Conformity to maintain the validity of the affirmation of the conformity of the Products of telecommunications or broadcasting with respect to Technical Provisions. D) The Monitoring of the Compliance Statement to maintain the validity of the affirmation of the conformity of the Telecommunications Infrastructure or broadcasting with respect to Technical Provisions.
