Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has issued order regarding Temporary ban on the Importation of Domestic and Wild Birds and Their Products Including Poultry Meat, Day Old Chicks, Eggs, and Semen Originating from Kelantan, Malaysia. The official report submitted Department of Veterinary Services, Division of Livestock Resources and Technology Development, Putrajaya, Malaysia to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on 27 March 2017, confirming that there were ten new outbreaks of H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus in four districts in Kelantan, Malaysia. It affects backyard village chickens as confirmed by the Veterinary Research Institute (VRI) Ipoh (Regional Reference Laboratory).
