Chile - Establishes sanitary requirements for the admission to Chile of rabbits and hares pets or pets

Agricultural and Livestock Service is establishing sanitary requirements for the admission to Chile of rabbits and hares pets or pets as follows;

1. Establishes specific sanitary requirements for the admission to Chile of rabbits and pet hares;

2. Understand as a pet or pet for purposes of hospitalization to Chile to those who:

A. The number of animals does not exceed five copies;

B. Accompany and travel on the same means of transport as the owner or person who transports it during its travel;

C. They are sent by their owners in petmovers;

D. They are acquired abroad to be destined as pets or pets;

E. They are not intended for reproduction and / or commercial operation, ie sale, transfer of ownership, exhibition or other activities of a lucrative type;

F. Are infertilized animals, both females and males, with a certificate attesting to said condition;

3. Health certification:

The animals must be protected by an official sanitary certificate, granted at the time of shipment by the competent Sanitary Authority of the country of origin, which accredits compliance with the sanitary requirements and conforms to the model approved by this Service and be extended in Spanish and In the official language of the country of origin;

4. Origin of animals:

4.1. Rabbits or hares are born and raised in the country or zone of origin, or have been held in captivity for at least 60 days prior to export;

4.2. In the area of ​​origin, during the 90 days prior to shipment, there have been no clinical cases of Tularemia, Myxomatosis and Haemorrhagic Disease of the rabbit;

4.3. In the case of rabbits destined for the laboratory, they have been raised in barrier colonies, the importer being obliged to prove their status as a research or diagnostic laboratory and to comply with the conditions to ensure the adequate maintenance of the animals;

5. Pre-shipment insulation:

5.1. The animal (s) have been kept in isolation for 21 days, under the control of a veterinarian, and during this time, no clinical signs compatible with Tularemia or other infectious communicable diseases affecting the species have been reported;

5.2. During the isolation period, they were treated for internal and external parasites, with products of recognized efficacy and authorized by the Competent Sanitary Authority;

5.3. During the isolation period, the animal (s) have not been in direct contact with other animals of the same species and have been subjected to the following diagnostic tests, vaccinations or treatments with negative results as appropriate:

5.3.1. ** Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease: Hemagglutination inhibition test, or indirect ELISA or competition ELISA, or at least two immunizations with inactivated virus, the last immunization being within six months prior to shipment. Indicate date of diagnosis, diagnostic technique or vaccination;

5.3.2. ** Tularemia: PCR;

5.3.3. Internal and external parasites: Treatment with broad spectrum antiparasitics and authorized by the Competent Sanitary Authority. Indicate date of treatment;

5.4. The diagnostic tests have been carried out in an official laboratory or recognized by the Sanitary Authority of the place of origin;

5.5. If the country is free of the aforementioned diseases, diagnostic tests will not be necessary.

* If corresponding to vaccinated animals, the history of the corresponding vaccination should be indicated: Vaccination date, vaccine producer, serial number, control number and date of expiration.

6. Of the conditions of shipment:

6.1. Pets must be protected by an official Spanish health certificate, issued at the time of shipment by the Competent Sanitary Authority of the country of origin, certifying compliance with sanitary requirements and specifying the infertility of the specimens, The country and address of origin, name of the owner, identification of the pet, number of animals, address of the destination address, means of transport and point of entry to Chile;

6.2. The animal or animals did not show clinical signs of infectious diseases affecting the species on the day of shipment to Chile, nor did they show the presence of external parasites and are in good condition for export;

6.3. During transportation, all measures were taken to ensure the health conditions required by Chile and the welfare of the animals;

7. Of the conditions of entry to Chile:

7.1. Upon arrival in the country, the animals will perform a quarantine of post admission in the Lo Aguirre Quarantine Station of the Agricultural and Livestock Service or in a place authorized by the Service, for a minimum of ten days, and this period may be extended if the Service so determines;

7.2. During the post-entry quarantine period, the animal or animals may be subjected to diagnostic tests or treatments that the Service deems convenient at the cost of the interested party;

7.3. For all types of animals must submit the Resolution of authorization of exotic wildlife issued by the Division of Natural Renewable Resources of SAG;

7.4. If the species to be imported is included in the appendices of the CITES convention, the requirements of the CITES convention and the current regulations must be complied with;

7.- Resolution No. 6.851 / 2012 amending Resolution No. 396 of 1993, which establishes sanitary requirements for the admission to Chile of rabbits and hares, is hereby revoked.
