Indonesia – Certification procedures for cellular telephone, computer handheld and table conducted by laboratory are amended

Directorate General of Postal and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Resources and Equipment, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has issued regulation sets certification procedures for the cellular telephone, computer handheld and table conducted by laboratory testing or document evaluation (Self-Declaration of Conformity).

The Self-Declaration of Conformity is based on the test report from Laboratories recognised by:

1.    Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) or Global Certification Forum (GCF);

2.   Testing laboratories assigned or recognised by The Directorate General of Postal and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Resources and Equipment; or

3.   Testing laboratories supervised by Directorate General of Postal and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Resources and Equipment.

The objective is to prevent deceptive practices and consumer protection and accelerate public service on certification of cellular telephone, computer handheld and tablet.

Affected Products –

1. Ex. 8517.12.00.00 – cellular telephone

2. 8471.30.10.00 – handheld

3. Ex. 8471.30.90.00 – computer tablet. - Portable digital automatic data processing machines, weighing not more than 10 kg, consisting of at least a central processing unit, a keyboard and a display (HS 847130).

Proposed date of adoption: 29 December 2017

Proposed date of entry into force: 29 December 2017

Final date for comments: 60 days from notification
