GCC – Proposed technical regulation demands fresh supplies of cassava to consumer and mandating Packaging, Storage & Transportation and labelling requirements

Directorate General for Specifications & Metrologyhas issued notification on draft technical regulation concerns commercial bitter varieties of cassava roots grown from Manihot esculenta Crantz, of the Euphorbiaceae family, to be supplied fresh to the consumer, after preparation and packaging. Cassava for industrial processing is excluded. Items (4, 8 and 9) Requirements, Packaging, Storage & Transportation and labelling are compulsory. Remaining items are voluntary.

Proposed date of entry into force: 180 days from date of publication of approved version.

Final date for comments: 60 days from notification
