Japan – Outline notified for draft amendment of the Food Labelling Standards concerning the place of origin labelling of ingredients of processed foods

Consumer Affairs Agency has issued notification on Outline of draft amendment of the Food Labelling Standards concerning the place of origin labelling of ingredients of processed foods.The scope of the place of origin labelling of ingredients, which currently covers certain categories of processed foods, will be expanded to all processed foods domestically produced and sold. The place of origin of the heaviest ingredient of the processed food should be labelled. Imported processed foods are not required to label the place of origin of the ingredient.
