Uganda published standards for wood and wood products Uganda National Bureau of Standards published following standards DUS 2026:2019, Preservative-Treated Timber Standard specifies treatment requirements for preservative-treated timber and timber products that have a predicted service life at various levels of preservative treatment which are considered to be acceptable for a range of hazard conditions.This Draft Standard is not applicable to treatment with fire retardants or to treatments aimed at improving the physical properties of timber and timber products, nor does it cover the inherent quality of timber or timber products, or properties other than in respect of preservative treatment. DUS 2098:2019, Preservation of Bamboo and Cane for Non-Structural Purposes Standard covers the types of preservatives and method of treatment of bamboos and canes, used both indoor and outdoor for non-structural purposes. It also includes recommendations on the choice of treatment depending on the various uses to which the bamboo and cane are put. This Draft Standard does not cover the treatment of bamboo meant for structural purposes. Products covered : Preservative-Treated timber; Wood in the rough, whether or not stripped of bark or sapwood, or roughly squared , Wood sawn or chipped lengthwise, sliced or peeled, whether or not planed, sanded or end-jointed, of a thickness exceeding 6 mm , Wood, sawlogs and sawn timber (ICS 79.040) Proposed date of adoption: June 2020 Proposed date of entry into force: Upon declaration as mandatory by the Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.
