Canada modified the List of Permitted Preservatives to Enable the Use of Tocopherols in Dehydrated Fish Broth and Dehydrated Mollusc Broth

Health Canada's Food Directorate completed a premarket safety assessment of a food additive submission seeking approval for the use of tocopherols in dehydrated fish broth and dehydrated mollusc broth.

The use of tocopherols as an antioxidant is already permitted in Canada in several foods, including in frozen fish fillets and frozen prepared fish fillets.

The results of the premarket assessment support the safety of tocopherols for its requested uses. Consequently, Health Canada has enabled the use of tocopherols described in the information document below by modifying Part 4 of the List of Permitted Preservatives, effective 8 August 2019.

Products covered: Tocopherols in dehydrated fish broth and dehydrated mollusc broth (ICS Codes: 67.220.20, 67.120.30)

HS Codes: 1603

Proposed date of adoption: 8 August 2019

Proposed date of entry into force: 8 August 2019

Final date for comments: 21 October 2019

If the Proposal/Notification/Regulation will affect your International Business please send us your representation with facts and figures , so that these can be taken up suitably.
