EU proposes eco-design requirements for welding equipment European Commission Regulation sets compulsory requirements on the energy efficiency (minimum efficiency of the internal power supply unit, and maximum low-power-mode consumption), as well as on the material efficiency (such as the disassemblability of certain components) of welding equipment. In accordance with Framework Directive 2009/125/EC, products not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market. The draft Regulation is based on the findings of a technical, environmental and economic study which has been carried out in consultation with stakeholders. The measures proposed were subject to an impact assessment.
