EU proposes energy labelling of televisions regulation

European Commission proposes  regulation applies to electronic displays (in particular televisions, monitors and signage displays) to be placed on the EU market and repeals Regulation (EU) No 1062/2010 with regard to energy labelling of televisions.

It requires suppliers, before products can be placed on the EU market, to upload the label data, the product information sheet and the technical documentation into a product registration database.

The draft Commission Delegated Regulation is based on the findings of a review study and of a long discussion process with stakeholders. A study on the understanding the label by users was conducted in 2017 as well.

Proposed date of adoption: February 2019

Proposed date of entry into force: 20 days from publication in the Official Journal of the EU. The provisions shall apply from 1 April 2021
