Mexico proposed official Mexican Standard PROY-NOM-005-SAGARPA-2018, Artisanal sea salt - Minimum specifications of agri-food quality

Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food proposed official Mexican Standard is applicable to artisanal sea salt from salinas with traditional layout and obtained with non-industrial arts, used as an ingredient in food. It is mandatory in the national territory for natural or legal persons engaged in the process of extraction and preparation, as well as its packaging, labeling and marketing process.

This proposed Official Mexican Standard does not apply to sea salt that has received some type of industrial treatment.
