EU authorising nutrition and health claims made on food for the use of certain generic descriptors

European Commission proposes regulation authorises the use of certain generic descriptors, i.e. terms which have been traditionally used to designate a certain class of foods which could imply an effect on health, but which have traditionally not been used to indicate a health effect and which are not understood by consumers in such manner, for the territories of certain Member States of the EU where these generic descriptors are traditionally used.

Proposed date of entry into force: 20 days from publication in the Official Journal of the EU (about a month after adoption approx.)
