Chile proposed NCh 3151 Part 1/2 Plastic pipe systems for hot and cold water installations: Polypropylene (PP) - Part 1: Pipes/Part 2: Accessories

Ministry of Public Works proposed following:

1) Part 1: Pipes:

Standard establishes the requirements and test methods for polypropylene pipes, for hot and cold water installations and for heating installations, at design pressures and temperatures in accordance with the type of application (see Table 1). This standard also applies to the conduction of water intended or not for human consumption, under design and temperature conditions specified in the body of this standard. This standard applies to pipes made of polypropylene in their forms of homopolymer (PP-H), impact copolymer (PP-B), random copolymer (PP-R) and crystalline random copolymer (PP-RCT). This standard applies to PP pipes with an intermediate layer that contains fiberglass (three-layer pipes).

2) Part 2: Accessories:

Standard establishes the requirements for polypropylene (PP) fittings and fittings, which are part of the installations of a cold or hot water distribution system and for heating installations, at the pressures and temperatures of design according to the class of application (see NCh3151 / 1, Table1) This standard also applies to the conduction of water intended or not for human consumption, under design and temperature conditions specified in the body of the standard. This standard covers a range of service conditions (application classes), design pressures and pipeline series. For values ​​of TD, Tmax and Tmal, higher than those indicated in NCh3151 / 1, Table 1, this rule does not apply. This standard specifies the parameters for the test methods indicated. This standard applies to the following types of accessories: - Insertion accessories (socket) for connection by thermofusion; - Accessories for electrofusion connection; - Accessories for mechanical connection; - Accessories with built-in inserts. This standard is also applicable to accessories made of alternative materials, which must be installed with pipes in accordance with NCh3151 / 1 and comply with the requirements of ISO15874-5.
