Egypt proposed Standards for Sterilization, Jewellery and precious metal maker, Chairs and tables, Toys, Bottled Natural Mineral Water, lenses, Hoses, OLED, Electric toys

Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality proposed following:

1) Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 8138/2017 "Sterilization - Steam sterilizers - Large sterilizers":

The Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8138/2017 which specifies the essential requirements and the relevant tests for large steam sterilizers primarily used in health care for the sterilization of medical devices and their accessories contained in one or more sterilization modules. The test loads described in this standard are selected to represent the majority of loads (i.e. wrapped goods consisting of metal, rubber and porous materials) for the evaluation of general purpose steam sterilizers for medical devices. However, specific loads (e.g. heavy metal objects or long and/or narrow lumen) will require the use of other test loads.

This Standard applies to steam sterilizers designed to accommodate at least one sterilization module or having a chamber volume of at least 60 l.

Worth mentioning is that this standard technically adopts EN 285:2015

2) Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 8134/2017 "Ophthalmic optics – Mounted spectacle lenses":

The Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8134/2017 which is concerned with the essential requirements for mounted spectacle lenses relative to the prescription order (multifocal and progressive-power lenses)

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with ISO 21987:2009.

3) Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 8131/2017 "practice analysis to evaluation of precious metals, jewellery and precious metal maker, expert of evaluation of precious metals and stones":

The Ministerial Decree No.1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8131/2017 which specifies the requirements that must be met in the person conducting the analysis of precious metals to determine their calibre, or in the jewellery industry of precious metals or valuables for precious metals and precious stones, as well as procedures for obtaining a license to practice each profession according to its specialization.

4) Ministerial Decree No.1307/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 4229-2/2017 "Furniture- Chairs and tables for educational institutions part:2 Safety requirements and test methods":

The Ministerial Decree 1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 4229-2/2017 which is concerned with the essential Safety requirements and test methods for chairs and tables intended for public use in educational establishments.

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with EN 1729-2:2012

5) The Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standards:

a)  ES 3123-12/2017" Safety of toys-part 12: N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable"

b) ES 3123-14/2017" Safety of toys-part 14: Trampolines for domestic use"

The Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standards ES 3123‑12/2017 and ES 3123-14/2017 which are concerned with the:

1 - Requirements and test methods for N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances for:

toys and parts of toys made from elastomers and intended for use by children less than 36 months;

toys and parts of toys made from elastomers and intended to be placed in the mouth;

Finger paints for children less than 36 months.

2 - Requirements and test methods for trampolines for domestic use, their access devices and their enclosures, intended for outdoor and/or indoor use above ground level by one person at a time.

Worth mentioning is that these standards technically adopt EN 71-12/2016 and EN71‑14/2014 respectively.

6) The Ministerial Decree No. 1308/2017 mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 3123‑5/2017 "Safety of toys-part 5: Chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets":

The Ministerial Decree No. 1308/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 3123‑5/2017 which is concerned with the requirements and test methods for the substances and materials used in chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets.

Worth mentioning is that this standard technically adopts EN 71-5/2015

7) Ministerial Decree No. 1309/2017 (2 pages, in Arabic), mandating the Egyptian Standard ES1588 "Potable Bottled Natural Mineral Water":

The Ministerial Decree No. 1309/2017 gives the producers and importers a six month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES1588 which is concerned with the essential and hygienic requirements, microbiological characteristics and methods of inspection and testing of potable bottled natural mineral water.

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with Codex Stan 108‑1981, Adopted 1981. Amendment 2001, 2011. Revisions 1997, 2008 "Natural mineral water"

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with ISO 2929/2014

10) Ministerial Decree No.1307/2017 (2 pages, in Arabic), mandating the Egyptian Standard ES 8106/2017 "Organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels for general lighting - Safety requirements":

The Ministerial Decree No. 1307/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 8106/2017. This standard specifies the safety requirements of OLED tiles and panels for use on D.C. supplies up to 120 V or A.C. supplies up to 50 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz for indoor and similar general lighting purpose.

Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with IEC 62868/2014.

The Ministerial Decree No. 1308/2017 gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 7269/2017 which is concerned with the safety requirements for electric toys that have at least one function dependent on electricity for use in play by children less than 14 years old.

Worth mentioning is that this standard technically adopts IEC 62115:2017: Electric toys - Safety
